All but Grace!

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;  it is  the gift of God,  not of works, lest anyone should boast.   For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:8-10 Many of us today don't realise that we are not saved by our works, but by the grace of God. It was the gift of God for us to be saved. Our works could have never done that for us, as we were of a sinful nature. Jesus came, and He didn't have to, to save us. It was of His love, compassion and His grace. We need to get serious with God, and start following Him. But not of our own power or works, but by the Spirit of God and by His grace. His grace is not something we should boast about. But it doesn't stop with just being saved, we need to continue in the path of righteousness. Guys, this is why we need to fully commit our lives to God. To continue in our salvation, we need
FRIDAY’s VERSE: “They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.”” 2 Peter 2:22 NLT http://bible.com/116/2pe.2.22.nlt

Rooted in Christ!

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬ http://bible.com/1/eph.3.17.kjv The reason why many of us struggle to follow the Word of God is because Christ is not rooted in our hearts. We are not rooted in Christ. You see, Christ is the cornerstone of our faith, and we need to be rooted in Him for us to live successfully as Christians. The Word of God should be where our actions, words and thoughts should be based from. James talked about what our words should be like in chapter 3 of his book:  "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.   10  Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.   11  Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?   12  My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?  Neither can a salt spring produce fresh w

Biblical Truths - 1 - Who is the blind one?

"If you were blind, your wouldn't be guilty," Jesus replied. "But you remain guilty because you claim you can see." Today's Verse of the Day Image Please reference this blog when sharing the image!  John 9:41 NLT In the beginning of John 9, we meet a man who was born blind. He is then healed by the power of Jesus, and then is questioned by Pharisees, He then meets Jesus and declares Him the Son of God. But there's a lesson in this story - about spiritual blindness. You see, this blind beggar accepted that he was a sinner (as all men have fallen short of God's glory) and was in need of help. Not only physical help (being blind), but also spiritual help, on the inside. Jesus wants us to learn that we need to accept that we need help before He can help us. If we don't, He cannot, just like in the Pharisees case. The Pharisees were blind and thought they could see and that just because they were descendants of Moses they needed no deliverance

We Need God

“If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” John 15:6 KJV http://bible.com/1/jhn.15.6.kjv  Many of us are struggling with living as Christians, and this is one of the reasons why. It's because we aren't abiding in Jesus, and we think we can live a life in the flesh and walk with God. This is not possible, and will never work. We don't leave everything to God and instead let our pride take over and we say to God 'I don't need you'. But we don't understand that without Him we wouldn't be here today. Jesus described us as an adulterous generation, in Matthew 16:4. “A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.” Matthew 16:4 KJV http://bible.com/1/mat.16.4.kjv When Jesus says adulterous here, He's not talking about

Remembering what Xmas is about

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 KJV http://bible.com/1/isa.9.6.kjv.  It’s Christmas Day, the day when Jesus was born! Jesus was our Saviour, and His birth was the beginning of a huge upgrade plan that God had for us. You see, when Adam died, we lost the image of God. The image of God was taken away from us. So we lost the image of God. But Jesus came to restore us, and bring us back into God’s image, and upgrade us to a higher, more powerful and rich life full of blessings and honour. But don’t think it’s all sit back and relax! No, no, no! You have a responsibility to keep this image and submit to God, to fight the devil. And remember, love was born at Christmas. A Saviour was born at Christmas. Life was born at Christmas. “The beauty of life does not depend on how happy you are, bu

Merry Christmas!

Discovering Truth would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas, as we celebrate the Wonderful Saviour’s birth! Remember - the beauty of life is not how happy you are, but how happy others can be because of you.  MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🎄

What’s Xmas all about?

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him.” John 3:17 NET http://bible.com/107/jhn.3.17.net Remember this this Christmas season! Christmas isn’t all about presents, it’s a time when love was born and God sent the greatest gift the world had ever received. #dbverses2016xmas @daily_bible_verses_2017 We wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Let the Spirit take control!

“Are you so foolish? Although you began with the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by human effort?” Galatians 3:3 NET http://bible.com/107/gal.3.3.net  This is why many of us still struggle with Christianity. We start with the Holy Spirit, but try and run our race with our own efforts, which is where everything goes all downhill. Don't you remember? Zechariah 4:6 says: “Therefore he told me, “These signify the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by strength and not by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD who rules over all.”” Zechariah 4:6 NET http://bible.com/107/zec.4.6.net We don't let the Spirit take control. We try and run the race in our human efforts, on ourselves. But God is a Spirit and we can't walk with Him if we aren't Spirit too! “God is spirit, and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”” John 4:24 NET http://bible.com/107/jhn.4.24.net If the race started with Jesus, you need Jesus to finish it.
“Jesus said to his disciples, “Stumbling blocks are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him to have a millstone tied around his neck and be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. Watch yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him. Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times returns to you saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:1-4‬ ‭NET‬‬ http://bible.com/107/luk.17.1-4.net
“But Jesus said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in men’s eyes, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly prized among men is utterly detestable in God’s sight.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:15‬ ‭NET‬‬ http://bible.com/107/luk.16.15.net
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬ http://bible.com/1/rom.1.16.kjv

Food for thought!

“But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?” Hebrews 2:6 KJV http://bible.com/1/heb.2.6.kjv FOOD for thought!
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬ http://bible.com/1/heb.2.14.kjv
“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” ‭‭John‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬ http://bible.com/1/jhn.1.3.kjv
“Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬ http://bible.com/1/mat.18.4.kjv

CAREFUL!

“And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.” Matthew 18:9 KJV http://bible.com/1/mat.18.9.kjv  What is Jesus saying here? Jesus is saying, it’s better to obey His Will and drop your evil nature. He is also saying that if you don’t obey His Will, but are destined for the Kingdom, He will make sure you get in, but a part of you will be gone. It may be physical like being crippled or blind, or spiritual.  Careful!
“Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬ http://bible.com/1/mat.18.22.kjv

Value the MOST PRECIOUS!

“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:23 KJV http://bible.com/1/1pe.1.23.kjv  This is what we need to recognise about who we are and where we come from. We don’t just have anything as Christians. We have something - the most valuable and precious thing that has ever been given to man. The Word of God. It’s incorruptible once it’s planted and can really change lives. Value it!

THE NARROW GATE

““You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:13-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬ http://bible.com/116/mat.7.13-14.nlt

NOT WHAT YOU KNOW!

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 KJV http://bible.com/1/pro.3.5.kjv  This verse is talking to many of us today. We are like children of disobedience, and never want to lean on Him. We think our own backs are good enough. So, what about when the storms and winds come? Is that when you’ll be shouting, ‘Oh God!’. You decided to disobey, and therefore must face the consequences. Another problem we have as humans is pride. It’s in our human nature, which is why the first thing we need to do when we become Christian’s is to drop the human nature. God cannot with prideful people who always think there way is the best way. Lean NOT ON YOUR UNDERSTANDING. Don’t trust in what you know!
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬ http://bible.com/1/mat.7.7.kjv

“Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬ http://bible.com/1/mat.7.19.kjv BE GOOD FRUIT!
“Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬ http://bible.com/116/mat.13.9.nlt

We are the Sons of God!

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12 KJV http://bible.com/1/jhn.1.12.kjv We are the sons of God. This is something we need to delve into a bit deeper. Who is a son? A son of God is someone who God has given power over sin over. Are you wondering why you are struggling to be a Christian? We need to stop holding onto flesh and sin. This is what is stopping us from being the true Heirs of God. Our will and our own selfish ambitions are keeping us back, they're making us look back. Here's what Jesus said about those who look back: “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 KJV http://bible.com/1/luk.9.62.kjv Selfish ambitions: “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” Philippians 2:3 NKJV http:
“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” ‭‭John‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬ http://bible.com/116/jhn.1.1.nlt

Recognising Jesus.

“He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him.” John 1:10 NLT http://bible.com/116/jhn.1.10.nlt Even though many of us call ourselves Christians today, we still don’t recognise who Jesus is. And although it may sound insulting, we are still rejecting Jesus. We don’t recognise Him which means we don’t Whom it is that is calling us, and we misinterpret Jesus for something else. We misinterpret Him, and still believe we are following Him. We cannot be rejecting Jesus and think we’re following Him. It’s because we don’t recognise Him that we cannot find Him or we don’t hear Him clearly. We can only recognise Him through His Word, we need purified hearts to come before God. Then we can recognise who He is, what He has for us, and what He wants us to do.
“Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” ‭‭John‬ ‭6:35‬ ‭NLT‬‬ http://bible.com/116/jhn.6.35.nlt

WHY OH WHY?

“But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.”” John 6:27 NLT http://bible.com/116/jhn.6.27.nlt Why oh why do we look for perishable things? #dbverses2016 #votd #biblepostit
