Root of all Evils - SPECIAL POST

Title: Root of all Evils
Scripture for The Day: 'Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”' - Luke 12:15

What Jesus was saying is a warning to us all. There also many straight-to-the-point and frequent warnings about greed in the Bible, which shows how important this topic is. In the NIV Bible, the word 'greed' or 'greedy' is mentioned 25 times. You see, greed is something that you may not think is happening to you but it doesn't take long before it gets obvious! Greed is a thing that, over generations, humans have struggled with for a long time. Jesus warned us to be on guard against all kinds of greed, as Satan will use many tactics to try and get you to be greedy. He sometimes may use envy or covetousness to try and make sure that your heart becomes selfish, full of pride. In that split second, Satan will make the most of your resting moment. Money is another trap of Satan. And, sadly, one that many get into. The love of money is usually what drives a man - as if money is the only thing needed to survive. But they don't know that the love of money destroys. Paul said the same thing to Timothy in chapter 6 of his first letter.

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

Doesn't this prove what I am saying? Money is not the first thing you should chase. If you do, Satan doesn't need to bother. You're already heading into his trap.
What should we chase first then?
I am very glad you asked (happy emoji - 😎). But, if you read your Bible properly, you would have known that Jesus said what to chase right here:

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need." - Luke 12:31 NLT

You see - chasing after that job position, or a wife, or a house, or money greedily, and slowly removing the power of the Holy Spirit in your life is what Jesus was trying to get us to prevent, by what he said in Luke 12:15. Put God above all, and He'll give you everything you need. Doesn't this say the same thing as Psalm 23:1?

Pondering the Bible: How can a good God allow evil?

""The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV http://bible.com/114/jer.17.9.nkjv Q:  How can a good God allow evil?  This is the question I get from many Christianity skeptics. Well, let’s think all the way back to the beginning. God gave Adam and Eve a choice. To remain in His goodness, and enjoy a peaceful, free life, or go their own way and define good and evil for yourself. We all know what happened. The point I’m trying to make is,  man chose to do evil.  If you decide to deliberately burn yourself by putting your hand in an oven, you can’t blame the cook for that. It’s the same thing!  Man chose to do evil.  Well, why can’t God get rid of evil?  Do you want to remove your existence? Well, God doesn’t. You see, if God removed evil, He would have to remove man in the process, as man is evil. But He found a way to remove evil from us without wiping us out. He sent Jesus to die for u...

Acting on God's Word....

"Do not merely listen to the Word and deceive yourselves. practice it and do what it says." - James 1:22 Today I wanted to talk to you about the Bible's power. Many atheists and other non-Christians believe that the Bible is not true, but THEY haven't meditated on the Word that they heard from Church, study etc. Let's take a look at what Jesus said: " They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.   49  But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.'" Any questions? OK. But HOW do I 'practice and do' what God's Word says?  You make sure that whatever it says, has effect on your life. What I mean to say is, make sur...

Pondering the Bible: How to deal with anger

"Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires." James 1:20 NLT http://bible.com/116/jas.1.20.nlt Let’s admit it, we all deal with anger sometimes. But some more than most. When we do get angry, we get this overwhelming sense of bitterness and malice that is sometimes uncontrollable. This brings us to today’s question: How do you deal with anger?  Well, satan will always keep on trying to do things to make you angry. And as soon as you give in and never let it go, you have failed and satan can hold you back.  Here’s how to deal with it:  The Bible says that when you are angry you should not let it carry over to the next morning.  "And "don’t sin by letting anger control you." Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry," Ephesians 4:26 NLT http://bible.com/116/eph.4.26.nlt This means you may only be angry for some time. But I wouldn’t for long:  "Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be...
