Later on, Paul goes on to talk about even though he burnt his own clothes or sold all his possessions and did not show love, what he has done is nothing. You see - don't expect the world to like you. They'll want to make you feel special - in the wrong way. Jesus said,

“The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.”

Many atheists and other non-Christians believe that the Bible is not true, but THEY haven't meditated on the Word that they heard from Church, study etc. Let's take a look at what Jesus said: " They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When we do get angry, we get this overwhelming sense of bitterness and malice that is sometimes uncontrollable.
