Biblical Explanation Series: No excuse for Sin

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" - Romans 8:32

Some of us think that after we're saved, that we can continue sinning. Paul wrote,
"What shall we say then, are we going to abide in sin just so grace may abound? Certainly not! We are dead to sin, how can we live any longer in it?" (Romans 6:1-2)
Exactly. How can we? If we don't belong to something, we can't be in it. Sin means 'going for enmity against God' and if we are for God, how can we suddenly now be against Him? Many people claim to have been sent by God, some we can trust, others we can't. Let's see what the Bible says:  "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the
spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." - 1 John 4:1. So, now we know that there are false prophets, false teachers, false doctrines etc. But how do we test the spirits? Every person has a spirit in them. Those who are born into the world and do not have Jesus as Lord and Saviour, belong to Satan the god of this world (1 Corinthians 4:4). But if you do accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, you belong to Him. And Jesus destroyed the power of sin, and those who believe in Him, don't have to live any longer in sin. So, we have no excuse for sinning after we have been given grace. " Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.  How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?  For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” - Hebrews 10:28-30

Ouch. So you see we have no excuse for sin. Because the grace that's been given to us, once only. What I mean to say is, the saving grace of God is given once and then you follow Him. No more sin. If you DO sin mistakenly, and you did not know, God can forgive you. True Christians hate sin, and the Kingdom of Satan hates Christians. If we know what is right, we should teach others too and help them out of their ditch as well. This is what is called love, the passion and centre of God. We must be like Christ, who is God (Philippians 4:5). Jesus loved. Paul wrote:
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails." - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV.
This is the love Jesus had. One fact needs to be made clear, YOU CANNOT LOVE WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT. Let's look closely at Galatians 5:22:
" But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness," Notice how Paul said ' The fruit of the Spirit is' meaning that these actions/fruits can only be working and in your life by the HOLY SPIRIT.

Prayer: Lord I now understand that I need your spirit to be working in me to activate the fruit. Lord, let my soul receive that activation now. The activation of your fruit. Lord, Jesus, I'm sorry for any sins that I've made before this time. Now I know, and I will never sin again. Wash me clean and give me a new heart, oh Lord. Amen.

Pondering the Bible: How can a good God allow evil?

""The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV http://bible.com/114/jer.17.9.nkjv Q:  How can a good God allow evil?  This is the question I get from many Christianity skeptics. Well, let’s think all the way back to the beginning. God gave Adam and Eve a choice. To remain in His goodness, and enjoy a peaceful, free life, or go their own way and define good and evil for yourself. We all know what happened. The point I’m trying to make is,  man chose to do evil.  If you decide to deliberately burn yourself by putting your hand in an oven, you can’t blame the cook for that. It’s the same thing!  Man chose to do evil.  Well, why can’t God get rid of evil?  Do you want to remove your existence? Well, God doesn’t. You see, if God removed evil, He would have to remove man in the process, as man is evil. But He found a way to remove evil from us without wiping us out. He sent Jesus to die for u...

Acting on God's Word....

"Do not merely listen to the Word and deceive yourselves. practice it and do what it says." - James 1:22 Today I wanted to talk to you about the Bible's power. Many atheists and other non-Christians believe that the Bible is not true, but THEY haven't meditated on the Word that they heard from Church, study etc. Let's take a look at what Jesus said: " They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.   49  But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.'" Any questions? OK. But HOW do I 'practice and do' what God's Word says?  You make sure that whatever it says, has effect on your life. What I mean to say is, make sur...

Pondering the Bible: How to deal with anger

"Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires." James 1:20 NLT http://bible.com/116/jas.1.20.nlt Let’s admit it, we all deal with anger sometimes. But some more than most. When we do get angry, we get this overwhelming sense of bitterness and malice that is sometimes uncontrollable. This brings us to today’s question: How do you deal with anger?  Well, satan will always keep on trying to do things to make you angry. And as soon as you give in and never let it go, you have failed and satan can hold you back.  Here’s how to deal with it:  The Bible says that when you are angry you should not let it carry over to the next morning.  "And "don’t sin by letting anger control you." Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry," Ephesians 4:26 NLT http://bible.com/116/eph.4.26.nlt This means you may only be angry for some time. But I wouldn’t for long:  "Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be...
