Parallel series: Job - the Faith Walker

"For by such grace you have been saved through faith. This does not come from you; it is the gift of God and not the result of actions, to put a stop to all boasting." - Ephesians 2:8-9

Many people want to be 'good' in their own terms. But even after they're saves they claim that it is of their own efforts. Our own efforts will never get us anywhere, no matter how many times we are proved 'good' by the world, we are sinners. Why? Because Satan is that god of this world and controls sin. God and the devil have enmity between each other. Our moral definition of 'holy' is not God's way of being holy. Holy means righteousness and able to go into God's presence - but we can't. We are sinners and God's presence is dangerous for us. We have been saved through faith.

What is faith?
Faith is...no, hold on, let's see what the Bible says:
"Now faith is the assurance that what we hope for will come about and the certainty that what we cannot see exists." - Hebrews 11:1
You see, we need to be having faith all the time. Faith that whatever we need should be given to us. But we hardly ever remember God's Will. If we just asked, without acknowledging whether it's God Will or not, our asking is in vain. Let's look at Jeremiah 29:11 and pick out the concepts:

"For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for well-being, and not for calamity, in order to give you a future and a hope." - Jeremiah 29:11

Okay, so this question has popped up many times: why should I obey God's Will.
God's Will is His plans for us. And as Jeremiah said, they are not for evil. They are not for calamity or...
THAT'S NO EXCUSE FOR THE CALAMITY WE HAVE TODAY!! WHY DOES GOD LET THAT HAPPEN!

Now remember, God is not god of this world. Because this world is full of sin, Satan manages it (Further study: 2 Corinthians 4:4) God does not like sin, meaning He can only get to the Christian's
Now, before you ask, God does not tempt. Everybody is tempted.
"When someone is tempted, he should not say, “I am being tempted by God,” because God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.  Instead, each person is tempted by his own desire, being lured and trapped by it." - James 1: 13.14
To endure temptation we need to stand our ground in faith, many things happen just for us to curse God and bring our faith to zero-level. This is ALL from Satan, the devil, Lucifer! All one person with many different names. Let's look at Job. His own wife cursed against him, possessed by Satan, meaning that Satan is one of those anything-it-takes people. Job had everything taken away from him, his house, his sons, his money, everything. Put yourselves in Job's shoes-or sandals! We probably would have cursed God, swore at Him and maybe said we will never serve Him again. But Job even stuck up for his opinion when his friends disagreed with him! You see:

When you stand up for what you know is right and have faith that God will do it, it works.

What I mean to says is, everyone has their time of temptation and those who pass gain more than they had before, and should still sustain their faith.

Pondering the Bible: How can a good God allow evil?

""The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV http://bible.com/114/jer.17.9.nkjv Q:  How can a good God allow evil?  This is the question I get from many Christianity skeptics. Well, let’s think all the way back to the beginning. God gave Adam and Eve a choice. To remain in His goodness, and enjoy a peaceful, free life, or go their own way and define good and evil for yourself. We all know what happened. The point I’m trying to make is,  man chose to do evil.  If you decide to deliberately burn yourself by putting your hand in an oven, you can’t blame the cook for that. It’s the same thing!  Man chose to do evil.  Well, why can’t God get rid of evil?  Do you want to remove your existence? Well, God doesn’t. You see, if God removed evil, He would have to remove man in the process, as man is evil. But He found a way to remove evil from us without wiping us out. He sent Jesus to die for u...

Acting on God's Word....

"Do not merely listen to the Word and deceive yourselves. practice it and do what it says." - James 1:22 Today I wanted to talk to you about the Bible's power. Many atheists and other non-Christians believe that the Bible is not true, but THEY haven't meditated on the Word that they heard from Church, study etc. Let's take a look at what Jesus said: " They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.   49  But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.'" Any questions? OK. But HOW do I 'practice and do' what God's Word says?  You make sure that whatever it says, has effect on your life. What I mean to say is, make sur...

Pondering the Bible: How to deal with anger

"Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires." James 1:20 NLT http://bible.com/116/jas.1.20.nlt Let’s admit it, we all deal with anger sometimes. But some more than most. When we do get angry, we get this overwhelming sense of bitterness and malice that is sometimes uncontrollable. This brings us to today’s question: How do you deal with anger?  Well, satan will always keep on trying to do things to make you angry. And as soon as you give in and never let it go, you have failed and satan can hold you back.  Here’s how to deal with it:  The Bible says that when you are angry you should not let it carry over to the next morning.  "And "don’t sin by letting anger control you." Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry," Ephesians 4:26 NLT http://bible.com/116/eph.4.26.nlt This means you may only be angry for some time. But I wouldn’t for long:  "Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be...
