Sin and Its Traps

Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes. - Psalm 37:7

We sometimes fret when others are doing well and our prayer remains unanswered. 365 times in the Bible, God says "FEAR NOT". We shouldn't be scared of anything. We shouldn't fear that our prayer is going unanswered. God hears us and those who are successful without God, the devil has a special plan for them. This is it:

"...to steal, kill and destroy" - John 10:10

This quote is absolutely true:
SIN WOULDN'T BE SO ATTRACTIVE IF THE WAGES WERE PAID IMMEDIATELY.

This is SUPER-true.

How does sin trap us?
James writes, "Our desires make us sin, and when sin is finished with us, it leaves us to be dealt with by death" James 1:15 CEV. This verse begins with, 'our own desires make us sin...' That is why we must not have idols. Not only statues or shrines, but things we are addicted to apart from the Gospel. Because Satan can use anything in his aim to destroy us, usually our idols and desires for things. He'll give us them alright, but at a huge price. Your life. Jesus asked:
"What will you gain, if you own the whole world but destroy yourself? What would you give to get back your soul?" - Matthew 16:26. In this verse Jesus is stating how valuable life is and how we should not waste it on worldly things, but we should aim for eternal life that we have in Christ.

"Temptation comes from our own desires which entice us and drag us away" - James 1:14

Temptation comes from desires, which leads to sin and finally death. All these are from Satan. I am not saying that you should not set goals for your life,no certainly not! Just that God has to tell you what He wants. Always use the Bible to check if what 'the voice' has said is from God or the devil. If God, it will be in accordance with His word, if the devil the opposite.

Sins and Its Traps.

The Godly Godliness

1 Timothy 4:7 -  7  Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales;  rather, train yourself to be godly.  The godliness Paul is talking about here means piety to God, a revered holiness. What do I mean? Well, on what we do we should have a holiness for him. Our clothing, people should be able to say 'this is a real Christian'. Our behaviour should also have a holiness. A fear of God. As the Bible says, the fear of God gives life. This holiness is about the things you do, how you respond to God and to the things of God. Our character influences the way we live and what we do-it's the way people determine who you are, for it is always the inner man the speaks out. They are books and magazines you shouldn't read, things you shouldn't watch and games you shouldn't play. The excuse 'it's Christian' won't work this time! Watch with your children - make sure you are sure of what they watch. Never forget who you are in Christ: His own, o...

STOP HOLDING ONTO FLESH!

“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” John 14:21 KJV http://bible.com/1/jhn.14.21.kjv We can see from this verse that a true follower of Jesus obeys his commands. But why do we find it difficult to follow Jesus? It’s because we are still holding onto flesh. We don’t want to let go, we think we can be both of God and of the flesh. But for you to work with God, the flesh must be dead. The flesh is your mind, emotions and your will. I repeat, God cannot work with you if the flesh is still alive. We cannot still hold on to the flesh. We are still sitting on the fence, not going in or out. Jesus said: “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:16 KJV http://bible.com/1/rev.3.16.kjv Let’s stop holding onto the flesh!

Pondering the Bible: How can a good God allow evil?

""The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV http://bible.com/114/jer.17.9.nkjv Q:  How can a good God allow evil?  This is the question I get from many Christianity skeptics. Well, let’s think all the way back to the beginning. God gave Adam and Eve a choice. To remain in His goodness, and enjoy a peaceful, free life, or go their own way and define good and evil for yourself. We all know what happened. The point I’m trying to make is,  man chose to do evil.  If you decide to deliberately burn yourself by putting your hand in an oven, you can’t blame the cook for that. It’s the same thing!  Man chose to do evil.  Well, why can’t God get rid of evil?  Do you want to remove your existence? Well, God doesn’t. You see, if God removed evil, He would have to remove man in the process, as man is evil. But He found a way to remove evil from us without wiping us out. He sent Jesus to die for u...
